How powerful does my air scrubber have to be?
Intense continuous sources of contamination require air volume to be cleaned 5 to 6 times per hour.
For example, a 20 by 30 foot room with a 9 foot ceiling has a volume of 5,400 cubic feet.
In this example your air scrubber must deliver 450 cubic feet of clean air each minute (CFM) to clean the air 5 times per hour.
If contamination builds gradualy less filtration power may be OK.

What kind of air scrubber do I need?
Air scrubbers with HEPA filters remove airborne particles.
Air scrubbers with activated carbon filters remove airborne chemicals.
Your air scrubber can remove both particles and filters if it has a HEPA and an activated carbon filter.
Specific chemicals can be targeted by specialized blends of activated carbon. |
How many Air Scrubbers do I need?
Two or more smaller air scrubbers may be less expensive than a single high powered unit.
Multiple units may do a better job of cleaning your air.
Spaces on your shop floor far from your air scrubber are not cleaned as much as spaces near your air scrubber.
Multiple units clean your work area more evenly, often for less cost.
